Minister of Information Paul Morcos welcomed, at his office in the ministry, the Director of UNESCO Beirut Office, Costanza Farina, accompanied by UNESCO’s Communication & information Officer George Awad.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Hassan Falha.
Discussions reportedly touched on ways to enhance cooperation between the MoI and UNESCO, especially in the domains related to media law, Tele Liban archives, and combating fake news, in light of the training courses currently taking place at the ministry in this regard.
The meeting also addressed projects related to the state-run Tele Liban, and the means to support it at the technical level and enhancing its capabilities.
Separately, Minister Morcos received at his office, Agence France Presse Lebanon and Syria bureau chief Acil Tabbara, who paid him an acquaintance visit.
The visit was an occasion to discuss ways of cooperation between the Ministry of Information and the AFP.
Additionally, Morcos received at the ministry office, Representative of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) in the Middle East, Levon Amirjanyan, accompanied by the coordinator at the International Organization of La Francophonie. Discussions reportedly touched on ways of cooperation between the Ministry and the OIF, especially in the field of combating fake news and holding training workshops. Future projects related to Télé Liban and supporting it at the technical and training levels were also discussed.
