Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri received at Beit Al-Wasat, the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, at the head of an expanded delegation of regional Muftis, Sharia judges, imams, heads of endowment departments, and mosque preachers, in the presence of the head of the Hariri Foundation, Bahia Hariri, and Hariri’s Advisor for Islamic Affairs, Ali Al-Janani.
During the meeting, former Premier Hariri hailed "the wisdom and moderation of the muftis and religious scholars, demonstrated especially during the critical moments that the country went through."
The expanded meeting was preceded by a meeting between Hariri and Mufti Derian, in the presence of Bahia Hariri, during which the general situation and developments were discussed.
Earlier, Hariri met with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov in the presence of Bahia Hariri and Hariri's Advisors George Shaaban and Hani Hammoud.
After the meeting, the Russian ambassador said: “I had a useful and cordial meeting with Hariri, during which we discussed the internal political situation and the recent achievements witnessed in the country.“
Hariri also met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, in the presence of Mrs. Hariri and advisors Dr. Ghattas Khoury and Hani Hammoud. Discussions reportedly touched on the latest local and regional developments.
Moreover, Hariri received Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Alaa Moussa, who said: “I was honored to meet with Premier Hariri, where we discussed many issues, especially those related to Lebanese affairs. We talked about the stage that Lebanon has gone through and the next stage, and I sensed that His Excellency has a positive and optimistic outlook regarding the upcoming events in Lebanon. “
Hariri also met with Indian Ambassador to Lebanon Muhammad Noor Rahman Sheikh, who stressed that "his country wishes peace, prosperity and sovereignty for Lebanon."
