Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati's press office issued the following statement: "In clarification of what is being circulated about the entry or transit of some former Syrian officials from Lebanon to other countries, the policy of the Lebanese government has always been to abide by Lebanese and international laws.This approach has been followed throughout the previous period during which Lebanon hosted hundreds of thousands of Syrian brothers.
Premier Mikati is closely monitoring this matter and has made to this effect extensive communications with Caretaker Justice Minister Henri Khoury; Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, Judge Jamal al-Hajjar; and Acting Director-General of the General Security, Major General Elias Baissari. He gave his instructions that this file be handled according to the laws and regulations in force, under the supervision of the competent judiciary, and in a manner that secures the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese and the future of relations with the Syrian people."
