The following statement was issued by the Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian:
It has been confirmed through legitimate means that the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1446 AH will be tomorrow, Saturday, March 1, 2025. This is in accordance with the view of the majority of Islamic scholars, who hold that when the sighting of the Ramadan crescent is confirmed in any country, it applies to all countries. The sighting of the crescent has been confirmed in several Arab and Islamic nations.
As we congratulate Muslims on the arrival of this holy month, we ask Allah Almighty to make it a month of goodness, blessing, and mercy, and to grant us success in fasting, prayer, and following its teachings. We pray that He returns these blessed days to Muslims and the Lebanese people with peace and security. Allah is the All-Hearing, the Responsive. Wishing you all a blessed Ramadan.
