President of the Republic Joseph Aoun stressed that "the country’s educational sector, both public and private, constitutes a priority for us, and it is our duty to stand by this sector to address its various issues and predicaments. The government, which has gained the confidence of the Parliament, can now begin work to serve the Lebanese with full responsibility."
President Aoun also shed light on what he had previously mentioned in his inaugural speech about the utter necessity of investing in education and knowledge.
Aoun also underlined that "Lebanon's wealth lies in its educated youth," saying, "We want our youth to remain deeply-rooted in their land."
President Aoun's remarks came during his reception at Baabda palace of a delegation from the Union of Private Educational Institutions in Lebanon, headed by the Secretary-General of Lebanon's Catholic Schools, Father Youssef Nasr.
Speaking in the name of the delegation, Father Nasr congratulated President Aoun on his election as head of state.
President Aoun also received Minister of Youth and Sports Nora Bayrakdarian who presented her work plan for the ministry and discussed arrangements for the reconstruction of sports facilities destroyed by Israeli aggression.
Moreover, President Aoun received a delegation from Dar Al-Fatwa, which included the Mufti of Baalbek-Hermel, Sheikh Bakr Al-Rifai, Engineer Adib Basatneh, and Engineer Bassam Barghout. The delegation delivered to President Aoun an invitation from Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif Derian, to attend the Iftar banquet to be hosted by Dar Al-Fatwa on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, upcoming Saturday, March 15, at Dar Al-Fatwa.
Aoun then received Mufti of Akkar, Sheikh Zaid Zakaria, with an accompanying delegation, who congratulated him on his election as President of the Republic and on the government’s confidence vote.
