MTV has obtained information that the Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea will soon visit Baabda Palace to meet with President Joseph Aoun.
According to sources, preparations for this meeting began during President Aoun’s consultations for the appointment of a Prime Minister, following a brief exchange with MP Sethrida Geagea. However, the visit was delayed due to the issue of Lebanese Forces' representation in the government, to avoid any perceived link between the meeting and the cabinet formation process.
Reports indicated that Geagea was set to visit Baabda yesterday, but the ongoing cabinet deadlock may have postponed it until after the government's formation. This meeting will mark the first public encounter between Aoun and Geagea since their single meeting on January 8, on the eve of Aoun’s election. It will also be Geagea’s first visit to the Presidential Palace since September 2, 2019, when he attended an economic meeting at the invitation of then-President Michel Aoun.
