Minister of Public Works Fayez Rasamny reaffirmed the historic and robust ties between Lebanon and Qatar, emphasizing Doha’s steadfast support for Lebanon across various stages, in an interview.
Rasamny highlighted the ministry’s efforts to expand bilateral cooperation, particularly through joint projects in ports, airports, and transportation, given their vital role in strengthening Lebanon’s economy and fostering sustainable development.
Addressing aviation safety, Rasamny underscored that ensuring security at Rafik Hariri International Airport is a top priority, noting that the ministry has implemented strict measures to enhance safety standards at this critical facility.
The Minister also stressed that rebuilding infrastructure damaged by Israel’s recent aggression remains one of the ministry’s foremost priorities, with a focus on repairing roads, border crossings, and key facilities, particularly ports and airports.
Rasamny further revealed that the ministry was currently conducting technical and economic feasibility studies to relaunch Qlayaat Airport in northern Lebanon, aiming to boost air transport and ensure balanced economic development across the country.
The Minister went on to affirm that revitalizing Lebanon’s public transportation sector was central to the ministry’s vision, emphasizing the need to upgrade public transport infrastructure to alleviate economic burdens on citizens and promote sustainability.
Rasamny concluded by reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to advancing its reform and development plans despite ongoing challenges, expressing hope for enhanced cooperation with regional and international partners.
