Caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi participated in the inaugural session of the "Arab Cybersecurity Ministers’ Council" in Saudi Arabia, organized by the Arab League.
In his opening remarks, Mawlawi reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to international, Arab, and national legality, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration. He highlighted Lebanon's dedication to being a supportive ally to Arab nations, promoting security, stability, and mutual growth while combating crime and cyber threats.
Furthermore, Mawlawi stressed the critical role of cybersecurity in protecting state and individual security amid increasing digital reliance and cyberattacks.
The Minister called for enhanced Arab cooperation to fortify systems and networks, align with global standards, and address cyber risks through education and advanced technologies.
Mawlawi also outlined Lebanon's strides in cybersecurity, including legislative advancements, strategic initiatives, and ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Interior to combat cyber threats and safeguard infrastructure.
