Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, stressed the urgency of electing a president and forming a government, warning that Lebanon’s political, security, and economic instability will persist without these steps.
"The country’s recovery depends on a functioning government, and delaying the presidential election on January 9 will only extend existing crises,” Derian warned.
The Grand Mufti also expressed solidarity with the Syrian people, condemning Israeli aggression and affirming support for Syria's sovereignty and peace.
“We stand with Syria’s choices, respecting its independence and freedom," Derian said, emphasizing brotherly relations based on mutual respect for each nation's sovereignty.
