Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met with a delegation from the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait, led by Ali Hassan Khalil, at the Grand Serail. Salam commended the council’s efforts and expressed hope for the return of Kuwaiti visitors to Lebanon, citing the deep historical ties between the two nations.
Salam also highlighted the significance of the recent visit by Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, emphasizing its role in enhancing bilateral relations. He pledged to visit Kuwait at the earliest opportunity.
In turn, Khalil reaffirmed the private sector’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s economy, encouraging Lebanese businesses to expand into Kuwait while urging Kuwaiti investment in Lebanon.
Salam later met with MPs from the National Moderation Bloc, who discussed the government’s policy statement and plans for Qlayaat Airport.
A committee will be formed under Salam’s leadership to oversee the project, alongside initiatives in water and electricity infrastructure, with anticipated Arab and international financial support.
The Prime Minister also met with MP Bilal Houchaimi, who voiced support for the government’s security measures at Beirut Airport and along the Lebanese-Syrian border.
Additionally, Salam discussed the situation of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon with Palestinian Ambassador Ashraf Dabbour.
