Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a series of meetings at the Grand Serail to address critical post-conflict developments and economic recovery efforts.
In a meeting with Caretaker Minister of Public Works Ali Hamieh, the Prime Minister was briefed on the operational status of key infrastructure.
Hamieh reported steady progress at Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport, highlighting that all airlines have resumed or are in the process of resuming operations. “We expect most flights to be fully regularized by mid-December, ahead of the holiday season,” he stated.
Hamieh also noted the efficient operation of Lebanon's seaports and the ongoing repair of road networks, particularly in Nabatieh, the southern governorate, Baalbek-Hermel, and Beirut's southern suburbs. He outlined challenges at border crossings, including the damaged bridges caused by Israeli strikes, emphasizing the need for additional time and resources to complete repairs.
Mikati also met with a broad economic delegation led by former minister Mohammad Choucair, which included representatives of various trade, industry, and tourism sectors. The delegation praised Mikati’s efforts during the recent conflict and called for robust support to revitalize the private sector, particularly businesses severely affected by the war.
Choucair emphasized the importance of low-interest loans to help rebuild thousands of damaged enterprises and urged the government to enhance its partnership with the private sector to drive economic recovery.
The Prime Minister later conferred with Finance Minister Youssef Khalil on fiscal matters, MP Wael Abou Faour on general developments, and former minister Zeina Akar.
