Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel met with Shiite religious scholar, Sheikh Abbas Al-Jawhari, with talks focusing on the escalating situation in the country.
Both interlocutors stressed the importance of national unity and the necessity of strengthening State institutions, also emphasizing that no sect in Lebanon should feel defeated or broken, and that the primary goal should be to rebuild the State on solid foundations.
"The most important step is the return to the State," Gemayel affirmed, reiterating the need for all political forces to unite in rebuilding Lebanon. He underscored that this unity is essential for securing the country's future and addressing its numerous challenges.
Following the meeting, Sheikh Al-Jawhari described the meeting as part of a broader tour aimed at thanking Lebanon’s Christian spiritual and political leaders for their solidarity with the displaced despite political divergences.
He further highlighted the solidarity shown by Christian communities, particularly their efforts in hosting and supporting those displaced by the recent Israeli attacks.
"There has been no conflict between the host and guest communities in monasteries, churches, and schools," Al-Jawhari noted, hailing the spirit of unity in the face of shared adversity.
Expressing his gratitude, Al-Jawhari thanked Christian parties and spiritual institutions, including the Maronite Patriarchate, for their role in sheltering displaced Lebanese citizens. He stressed the importance of fostering a spirit of mutual love and cooperation, stating that "this fraternal Lebanese spirit reflects a new vision for the country."
The meeting, held at Gemayel's office in Bikfaya, was attended by Dr. Tony El-Hajj, head of the Kataeb Party’s Shura Council
