Prime Minister Najib Mikati received today the Speaker of the Islamic Shura Council in Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, on head of a delegation who visited him this morning at the Grand Serail.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that "the government's priorities at this stage are: achieving a ceasefire, stopping the Israeli aggression, and preserving the security of Lebanon and the safety of its people."
He underlined "Lebanon's commitment to implementing International Resolution # 1701, strengthening the army's presence in the south, and making the necessary contacts with the decision states and the United Nations to pressure Israel to fully implement said resolution."
On another note, PM Mikati received a call today from US presidential envoy Amos Hochstein, during which they discussed ways to reach a ceasefire and halt military confrontations, in order to resume the search for an integrated political solution based on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
