In a bid to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents, Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport completed urgent maintenance work at a high-risk accident-prone section of the international highway connecting the Masnaa border crossing to the Syrian border.
This intervention aims to improve traffic conditions and mitigate hazards along this critical route. The maintenance measures implemented include:
- Installation of two crash barriers to minimize the severity of accidents.
- Creation of a buffer zone to alert drivers of changes in road alignment.
- Placement of reflective road markers to enhance nighttime visibility and improve clarity in adverse weather conditions.
- Installation of directional and warning traffic signs to guide motorists and ensure safer navigation.
- Deployment of reflective road studs (Cat Eyes) to delineate lanes and improve nighttime driving safety.
- Implementation of warning grooves to prompt drivers to reduce speed when approaching the hazardous zone.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest road safety standards and urged drivers to adhere to traffic regulations, particularly on this stretch of highway that requires heightened caution. Emphasizing that road safety is a shared responsibility, the Ministry called on motorists to respect traffic signals and preventive measures, stressing that compliance with regulations is essential for safeguarding lives and preventing further accidents.
