Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, presided over the Sunday Mass at the Patriarchal monastery of Our Lady of Bkerke assisted by Bishops Nasser al-Jamil, Peter Karam, Hanna Alwan, Antoine Aoukar, Patriarch Secretary Father Hadi Daou, Father Fadi Tabet, head of the Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa, Father George Yaraq, with the participation of several bishops, priests, nuns, and a crowd of community members and believers.
After the Holy Gospel, Patriarch Rahi delivered a sermon entitled "Come and See," in which he reflected on the significance of the phrase when John the Baptist recognized Jesus as "the Lamb of God." He emphasized that Christ is present in the needy, in those who set an example, in the praying community, and through the sacraments of the Church. He invited everyone to listen to Christ, who speaks to their hearts and minds.
Patriarch Rahi also spoke about the principles that President Joseph Aoun would follow, expressing the hope that the Lebanese government would form quickly. He highlighted the President's commitment to a positive neutrality, as outlined in his speech, which would contribute to national unity, economic prosperity, and international peace. The idea of positive neutrality, which has historical roots in Lebanon's national pact, was also emphasized as a way to guide Lebanon through its current crises.
He concluded by urging the congregation to pray for Lebanon’s peace and stability, as well as for the country’s continued mission of dialogue and coexistence. After the Mass, Patriarch Rahi received the believers who had participated in the Divine Liturgy.
