Caretaker Minister of Information Ziad Makary described President Joseph Aoun's inaugural address to Parliament as “exceptional”, emphasizing its vision for a nation deeply affected by economic, financial, and social crises.
Speaking to a foreign website, Makary highlighted the optimism of young Lebanese, inspired by a dynamic, youthful president addressing their challenges and offering hope for solutions.
Makary praised Aoun’s extensive experience, rooted in his military background and deep understanding of Lebanon’s diverse regions. He expressed confidence in Aoun’s leadership and the Army’s impartiality, calling these strengths crucial for addressing Lebanon’s pressing issues.
On media freedoms, Makary lauded Aoun’s commitment to safeguarding press freedom within constitutional and legal frameworks, reaffirming Lebanon’s unique status as a haven for free expression.
Makary also expressed hope for Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory, citing the 60-day deadline for the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
