MPs Michel Mouawad and Fouad Makhzoumi, representing the Renewal parliamentary bloc, met this morning with French president envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian at the French Embassy in Beirut, in the presence of Change MPs Michel Doueihy, Waddah Sadek, and Mark Daou, as well as French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro.
“The meeting touched on the presidential elections,” announced MP Mouawad in a post on X, adding that conferees stressed the necessity of ending the presidential vacuum in tomorrow’s president election session.
He also revealed that conferees are likely to endorse Army Commander General Joseph Aoun for the presidency of the republic.
