Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri extended his warm Christmas wishes to all Lebanese, particularly the Christian community, celebrating the joyous occasion of the birth of Christ.
In his message, Berri said, “Before His birth, time was night, but after it, it became dawn… and life was sorrow, but it became joy.”
Citing religious texts, Berri added, "From the Bible: 'Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.' And from the Holy Quran: 'When the angels said, O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him.'"
The Speaker further emphasized the significance of the holiday, stating, “On the eve of Christmas, we are all called to approach our issues—across all aspects of our lives, conduct, and human, political, and social relationships—with a Christmas spirit: compassion, love, humility, tolerance, reconciliation, and transparency. There is no birth without love, giving, sacrifice, and continuous connection for the sake of humanity and Lebanon. Only then do we deserve to celebrate the birth and live its message of hope, salvation, and faith.”
