The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, stated, "We meet today in an atmosphere of victory and divine success; you have been patient and have fought."
In his first speech after the ceasefire, Qassem said, "We have repeatedly stated that we do not want war, but rather we seek to support Gaza, and for 64 days, a large-scale war has been launched on Lebanon, with the goal of "exterminating" Hezbollah and returning residents to the north."
He added, "The Israeli aggression was very severe and caused us to live in a state of confusion for 10 days, but afterward, Hezbollah regained its strength and initiative, standing firm on the front lines, while Israel suffered significant losses."
He considered, "The resistance has proven that it is ready, and because of its steadfastness, the Israeli enemy reached a dead end and failed in the face of the most honorable people, betting on internal strife, which turned out to be a failed wager."
Qassem stated, "We are facing a great victory that surpasses the one achieved in July 2006 due to the prolonged duration, the intensity of the battle, the great sacrifices, and because we prevented the enemy from dismantling Hezbollah and weakening the resistance."
He clarified that, "The ceasefire agreement is not a treaty, nor is it a new agreement that requires international signatures; rather, it is an action plan related to the implementation of Resolution 1701." He added, "The coordination between the resistance and the army will be at a high level to implement Resolution 1701, as we view the army as a national army that will deploy in its homeland, with its personnel being our own sons, and they will maintain security in Lebanon and along the borders."
He emphasized, "The ceasefire agreement is an agreement under the umbrella of Lebanon's sovereignty, and we agreed to it, as the resistance remains strong on the ground with our heads held high."
He continued, "A heartfelt thank you to the steadfast negotiator, Nabih Berri, as well as to Mikati, the army, the security agencies, the doctors, and the civil defense." He added, "We will prioritize the completion of constitutional institutions, starting with the election of the president, and hopefully, it will happen on the scheduled date of January 9."
He concluded, "We will cooperate and engage in dialogue with all forces that seek to build a unified Lebanon within the framework of the Taif Agreement, and we will safeguard national unity, sovereignty, preserve civil peace, and enhance Lebanon's strength."
