The Kataeb’s Political Bureau held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of the party's Vice President, Professor Bernard Gerbaka. After discussing the recent developments, the following statement was issued:
1. The Political Bureau firmly denounces the ongoing campaign targeting the Lebanese Armed Forces, the only institution that unites the country and holds the full trust of the Lebanese people. The army remains a crucial entity, relied upon domestically and internationally, to restore State authority, end Lebanon's cycle of conflict, and shield the country from any potential malicious schemes targeting its stability.
The Kataeb Party underscores the vital role of the army during these critical times and calls on the government, following the Prime Minister’s recent statements made in Riyadh, to immediately initiate a ceasefire and assign the Lebanese Armed Forces to deploy along the borders in line with international resolutions.
The Political Bureau also emphasizes the army’s essential role in safeguarding civil peace and insists on its strong deployment, alongside security forces, across all regions to act as a protective shield against any threats to Lebanon’s internal stability.
2. The Political Bureau stresses the need for the international community to act promptly to halt the conflict, prioritizing Lebanon’s national interests over those of Iran and Israel. This is Lebanon’s sovereign right, and one that the international community is duty-bound to respect.
The visits conducted by the Kataeb Party president to international capitals serve to highlight Lebanon’s active and essential presence at the negotiations table, particularly in light of expected changes in the U.S. administration. The political bureau hopes that anticipated peace efforts will bring solutions that benefit the Lebanese people, uphold their interests and identity, and preserve Lebanon’s role in the region.
3. The Kataeb Political Bureau extends deep appreciation and respect to the resilient fellow citizens and comrades in the southern villages who, despite the hardships they are enduring, have refused to leave their homes and lands. These communities once again bear the brunt of uncalculated, reckless actions that have led them to their current plight.
