Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati participated in the funeral of the late former Prime Minister Salim Al-Huss at Imam Al-Ouzai Mosque in Beirut's Jnah district.
Earlier in the day, Mikati arrived at the American University Hospital in Beirut, where Al-Huss's coffin, draped in the Lebanese flag, was placed on a gun carriage. The funeral procession moved to Imam Al-Ouzai Mosque, where Mikati, former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, MP Mohammad Khawaja representing Speaker Nabih Berri, and other figures received the body for funeral prayers before burial at the mosque’s cemetery.
During the service, Mikati delivered a eulogy, recalling Al-Huss’s patriotic positions.
“He was a self-made man, the conscience of Lebanon, and a staunch defender of the Palestinian cause. He always prioritized the nation's interest and the well-being of its citizens, acting with selflessness, objectivity, and constitutional integrity. No matter how much we try to follow his example, we will always fall short,” Mikati added.
