Presidency General Directorate issued the following statement:

"Based on the directives of His Excellency the President, the General Directorate sent a letter to the General Secretariat of the Cabinet that included a draft decree amending Decree 6433, which requires a unanimous decision by the government according to the opinion of the Legislation and Consultation Commission, even with a caretaker government due to its importance and consequences. 

The President has the right to determine what he deems best to preserve the safety of the homeland, for he is entrusted with that in the Constitution and the oath; he calls on the Lebanese to trust the strength of Lebanon's position and tells them, 'Be certain that matters will not take place except in a way that secures all of Lebanon's rights on land and sea'"
