The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, has shared on X the struggles of a family seeking shelter in one of the classrooms of a school-turned-shelter in the Gaza Strip.
“We try to cover the windows with pieces of fabric, but it offers no protection from the cold or the rain,” Abu Mohammed, 60, said.
His family stays in a room without doors or windows. They endure cold nights struggling without any blankets.
“I can’t express how freezing it is. I feel the chill deeply, but what about the little ones?” Abu Mohammed asked.
UNRWA said the harsh winter weather increases the risk that damaged buildings – where families have sought shelter – could collapse.
