Amin Maalouf Elected Permanent Secretary of the French Academy

Lebanese-born French author Amin Maalouf was elected permanent secretary of the French Academy, succeeding Hélène Carrère d’Encausse.

Maalouf was elected in the first round of vote, beating writer and doctor Jean-Christophe Rufin.
