The media office of the Lebanese Economy Ministry issued the following statement on Thursday evening:
"News was circulated by some media outlets that the Economy Ministry had raised the price of a bundle of bread to 10,000 Lebanese pounds, which is not true. The price of an ordinary bundle of bread remained the same, meaning a maximum of LBP 8,000, despite the rise in the dollar exchange rate.
The Economy Ministry emphasizes that it is working hard to maintain a balance between the production cost and the consumer price in these extremely difficult circumstances, in order to keep the price of bread within the reach of all citizens."
