President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, asserted on Tuesday his constant aspiration to strengthen and advance bilateral relations between Egypt and Lebanon in various fields to achieve the common interests of the two brotherly countries.
In a congratulatory cable addressed to President Michel Aoun, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of Lebanese independence, President el-Sisi praised the bonds of brotherhood and love that unite the Lebanese and Egyptian peoples, wishing to achieve what the Lebanese people aspire to in terms of progress and prosperity.
In addition, President Aoun received a congratulatory cable from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, stressing Lebanon's role in activating the work of the United Nations and in building a better and peaceful world.
Moreover, Sweden's King Carl Gustaf, Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba, and Croatian President Zoran Milanovic sent congratulatory cables.
President Aoun then met with MP Ali Darwish and deliberated with him general affairs and current developments.
The President also received former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Foreign Affairs, Ms. Zeina Akar.
General affairs and a number of current issues regarding the needs of Lebanese citizens were tackled during the meeting.
