Strong Lebanon bloc MPs withdrew from the legislative session, and MP Gebran Bassil said: "We withdrew from the session because of a major constitutional violation. The vote overturned the committees' proposal for the expatriate vote for 128 MPs, because it had only obtained 61 votes, and thus did not obtain an absolute majority."
He asked: "What are the reasons for tampering with the electoral law? If we leave it as it is, nothing will happens and the electoral process will take place without any problems. Then why are we endeavoring today to create a constitutional and charter problem? We regret such a turn of events."
