The media office of the Druze Sheikh Al-Aql said in a statement this afternoon that a phone conversation took place today between Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Mona and Papal Ambassador to Lebanon, Monsignor Paolo Borgia, during which the Sheikh Al-Aql asked about the health condition of His Holiness Pope Francis, wishing him a quick recovery and comfort, given his high spiritual status and position and the paternal and humanitarian message he carries.
In turn, Ambassador Borgia expressed his well-wishes on the start of the holy month of Ramadan, hoping that it would bring "peace, stability and prosperity to Lebanon, the region and the entire world."
On a different note, the Druze Sheikh Aql media office expressed disapproval of some calls from Lebanon and occupied Palestine regarding the exchange of visits to the holy sites, considering these calls as falling outside their natural context and in conjunction with the rise of certain appeals for normalization with the aim of stirring up emotions and media debates. The media office statement, thus, urged all “to rise to the religious, moral and social responsibilities necessitated by the current stage,” and to respect the norms and principles of addressing matters of such sensitive nature.
