After three years of silence, former Prime Minister Saad Hariri broke his silence and announced the return of the Future Movement to political work.
He told the gathered crowds in Martyrs' Square: "The Future Movement and Rafik Hariri's audience remain here with you and will be your voice in all national entitlements and in all upcoming stages." He added, "I told you before, 'Everything comes at its right time,' and I will remain with you and by your side, and I will not leave you."
In his speech, Hariri addressed the Syrian people, whom he described as 'heroes,' saying, "After 20 years, Rafic Hariri is still present, and so is his audience in all arenas; the Future Movement will remain a movement of moderation, the state, institutions, freedoms, Arabism, openness, and coexistence."
Hariri pointed out that "others are responsible for their choices, and we are responsible for ourselves before the people and the Lord; the crises have multiplied, with the most dangerous being the insane Israeli war that targeted our country and killed our people."
He emphasized that "it is everyone's responsibility to solve the economic crisis and restore development in all regions; Lebanon has a golden opportunity after the election of the president and the formation of a new government, and a new hope expressed in the president's oath of office speech, Joseph Aoun."
Hariri also addressed the people of the Bekaa and the southern suburbs, telling them, "You are partners in the opportunity, but you must break any previous impression that you are a force of obstruction, intimidation, and weaponry." He added, "You are partners in opening bridges of relations with our Arab brothers and partners in restoring the dignity of the state, which alone, with its army, institutions, and military and security forces, protects all Lebanese."
He confirmed his support for President Joseph Aoun and the new government "We support the presidency, the government, and every effort to build a normal state and establish normal relations with the Arabs and the international community, so that Lebanon can regain its role in the region and the world; we stand with the state and its national army, and with every effort made to enforce the ceasefire and Resolution 1701, which calls for the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from all the villages it occupies."
He added, "Rafik Hariri's project continues through you in a new form. After 20 years, Rafic Hariri is still present, and so is his audience in all arenas; the Future Movement will remain a movement of moderation, the state, institutions, freedoms, Arabism, openness, and coexistence."
He also mentioned that "We must understand the significant changes occurring in the region in order to declare our solidarity with the Palestinian people and their just cause, and our commitment to the two-state solution."
