Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri left Baabda Palace before the conclusion of the high-level trilateral meeting, while President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam remained.
Five minutes later, Salam also exited without making a formal statement.
When asked whether the government formation process had been finalized, Salam responded, “It worked out, and it didn’t."
The meeting had been widely expected to result in the issuance of decrees formalizing the new government.
