Lebanon ranked 15th globally and first in the Arab world in the Sports Merit Ranking, which evaluates countries' sports achievements relative to their economic capacities.
This ranking is part of the annual WRCES report for 2024, covering 206 countries and 115 sports under the International Olympic Committee.
Lebanon also climbed to 93rd globally and 10th regionally in the overall ranking, despite local challenges and the repercussions of the recent Israeli aggression.
This progress is attributed to the resilience of sports federations and clubs, supported by the private sector, in contrast to limited official backing.
