Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib met with Canadian Ambassador to Lebanon Stephanie McCollum with whom he discussed the situation in Lebanon following the ceasefire.
Bou Habib urged Canada and other friendly nations to support Lebanon's reconstruction efforts and enhance aid to the Lebanese Armed Forces and state institutions to address the challenges ahead.
In turn, Ambassador McCollum reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering support for Lebanon's military and security forces, emphasizing the necessity of electing a president and forming a new government.
Separately, Bou Habib met with Australian Ambassador to Lebanon Andrew Barnes with whom he addressed ongoing Israeli violations.
Bou Habib expressed hope that the ceasefire monitoring committee would soon commence its work to curb breaches and underscored the importance of delineating Lebanon's southern borders and ensuring Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese territories for lasting stability.
For his part, Ambassador Barnes conveyed Australia’s welcome of the ceasefire and highlighted the significant contributions of the Lebanese diaspora in Australia to supporting Lebanese causes.
