Lebanese Forces party leader Samir Geagea criticized Hezbollah’s actions during the recent conflict, accusing the group of dragging Lebanon into an unnecessary war with devastating consequences.
Speaking after an extraordinary meeting of the Strong Republic parliamentary bloc and the party's executive committee, Geagea expressed sympathy for families affected by the conflict.
"We stand with those who lost loved ones, were injured, displaced, or saw their homes and livelihoods destroyed," he said.
Geagea condemned Hezbollah for unilaterally deciding to engage in what he termed a "support war" that resulted in widespread destruction.
"Gaza was entirely destroyed, and Lebanon was severely harmed. We achieved nothing for Gaza and brought ruin upon Lebanon," he said, dismissing the concept of "unified fronts" as unrealistic.
Hezbollah, Geagea argued, acted without the consent of the Lebanese people.
"The group has committed a grave crime against all Lebanese, particularly those in the Bekaa, the South, and the suburbs. Over 4,000 lives were lost, and countless homes destroyed, yet they continue to speak of 'victory' in a detached manner," he remarked.
Calling for action, Geagea urged Hezbollah to work with the Lebanese Army to dismantle its military infrastructure north of the Litani River, emphasizing the importance of restoring state authority.
