Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in a statement after the Cabinet session, said, "Today is a new day, and we hope it brings stability," emphasizing that the government will implement all provisions of Resolution 1701, particularly strengthening the army's presence in the south and redeploying its forces.
He also expressed gratitude to the UNIFIL forces and stressed the importance of implementing UN Resolution 2749, particularly in fully executing Resolution 1701 and preventing violations. Mikati added, "Everyone must unite for reform and state-building, working together to regain the world's trust, while emphasizing the Lebanese army's security authority in the south to eliminate all justifications used by the enemy."
He extended his thanks to all the friendly countries that contributed to ending the ordeal of killing and displacement, we demand Israel's withdrawal from all the territories it has occupied, and we will work on reconstruction and the return of displaced people to their homes. Mikati also urged the Lebanese to learn from the difficult period, noting that everyone was betting on an internal strife, but we saw how the Lebanese embraced each other, and nothing can divide them.
