Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed that Lebanon has succeeded to thwart the effects of the Israeli aggression and is now entering a new phase following the ceasefire agreement. He addressed the Lebanese people, saying: ": You were the heart that embraced your fellow citizens who were unjustly displaced from their homes, you have shown the true face of Lebanon and national unity, and you have my highest gratitude and appreciation."
Berri thanked the "brotherly and friendly countries that rushed to assist Lebanon, and the diplomats whose efforts led to the ceasefire, as well as the Lebanese army, all security forces, and UNIFIL." He added: "is a moment of truth, not a time to pass judgment on the past, ignore the wounds, or exploit them; this is a critical test for all Lebanese, and for the Shia community first and foremost before any other Lebanese." He stressed the need to swiftly elect a president who unites, not divides, and poses no challenge to anyone.
In conclusion, Berri said: "Return to your homes and hometowns, for your return reflects both your identity and ours, honoring the memory of the martyrs; come back and restore life to the places the enemy tried to destroy, and we are committed to rebuilding them."
