After meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi in Bkerke, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati pointed out, "As we do every time our beloved country faces existential dangers, we come to this national and historical edifice to seek the wisdom of Patriarch Rahi."
Mikati affirmed that "what is needed is a president who represents the majority of the Lebanese people, without challenging anyone. The key point is to elect a president who is not aligned with one team against another, which is what is required at this time." He urged "the countries of the world to pressure Israel to stop its aggression against Lebanon."
