Israeli media outlets reported that the target of the airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs was Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah.
However, exclusive sources told MTV that the assassination attempt had failed, noting that a large number of civilian casualties resulted from the airstrike.
Tasnim, the Iranian news agency, citing security sources, confirmed that "Nasrallah is in a safe location, and the claims circulating in Israeli media are false."
Israeli newspaper Haaretz also confirmed that the intended target of the Israeli strike in Beirut was Nasrallah, who survived the assassination attempt.
Additionally, Axios reported that several Hezbollah leaders were present at the headquarters during the strike.
