The speech of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah did not carry his usual high tone; he appeared to acknowledge the setback that has affected Hezbollah and to threaten the enemy with harsh accountability.
Nasrallah confirmed that "we have suffered a severe and unprecedented blow, both security-wise and humanitarian-wise, in the history of Lebanon, the resistance, and the Arab-Israeli conflict, and it may even be unprecedented globally." He acknowledged that "the enemy possesses technological superiority, and all the global powers that have technological advantages stand with it." He added: "War is a back-and-forth struggle; one day it’s ours and another day it’s our enemy's, and Tuesday and Wednesday were a significant test that we will overcome with dignity, as it is important not to let any blow, no matter how strong, bring you down; we will become stronger, more capable, and more resilient in the face of all possibilities and dangers."
Nasrallah noted that "we have formed multiple internal investigation committees—technical, scientific, and specialized—and are studying all possibilities and hypotheses, having reached an almost definitive conclusion, but we need more time for the results to be conclusive." He continued: "The enemy detonated a civilian device used by various segments of society and repeated this on Wednesday by detonating wireless devices, showing no concern for where they were being carried, and aiming to kill 4,000 people in a single minute. The massacres of Tuesday and Wednesday are either war crimes or an outright declaration of war."
He explained that "we have received messages indicating that their aim with this strike is to force us to halt fighting on the Lebanese front, or else they have more in store." He stated: "What occurred on Tuesday was the targeting and simultaneous detonation of thousands of pager devices, an operation in which the enemy crossed all boundaries, laws, and red lines, showing disregard for anything ethical or legal."
Nasrallah stressed that "the front in Lebanon will not cease until the aggression against Gaza stops," addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant: "You will not be able to return the residents to the north, and what you plan to do will only increase their displacement." At the same time, he warned against the security belt being discussed within Lebanese territory, saying: "The security belt within Lebanese territory will turn into a quagmire, a trap, and hell for the enemy's army. If they dare to enter our Lebanese territory, they are welcome, as we see this move as a historic opportunity."
He concluded his speech by warning that "accountability for the massacres of Tuesday and Wednesday will come from where they expect it and from where they do not, but since this battle has unfolded in hidden dimensions, I will not discuss the timing, form, or place, so focus on what you see, not what you hear."
