The Russian and American delegations' talks began in Riyadh, focusing on the Ukrainian crisis and preparations for an upcoming summit between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
The attached video shows the moment the talks began, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov, and Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev representing the Russian side.
The American delegation includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Special U.S. Envoy to the Middle East Stephen Wittkoff.
Kirill Dmitriev, responsible for the economic aspects of the talks, stated that the Biden administration had misled regarding the deterioration of the Russian economy.
He emphasized that joint projects would make both the Russian and U.S. economies more successful and pointed out that American companies lost $300 billion by leaving the large Russian market. He further added that sanctions are harming the U.S. more than Russia and mentioned that the issue of the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline, which supplies Russian gas to Germany via the Baltic, was not discussed.
