As part of the visit by Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa to Turkey, at the invitation of Ankara, the First Lady of Turkey met with her Syrian counterpart.
Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan met with the wife of the Syrian president, Latifa al-Sharaa, and they appeared together in the first official photo of the latter.
Emine Erdoğan shared a photo with Latifa al-Sharaa on her Instagram account, writing in Turkish, "I was very pleased to host Mrs. Latifa al-Droubi, the wife of the Syrian president, who made an official visit to our country today."
She continued, "We had the opportunity to discuss many important issues, such as humanitarian aid, social solidarity, empowering women, and the role of education," adding, "We discussed the steps we can take together for women and children who suffer more than others from the war around the world."
The Turkish First Lady also stated, "We stand by the Syrian people today, as we have in the past, in the process of rebuilding Syria and healing its wounds."
The meeting between Latifa al-Sharaa and Emine Erdogan was part of the scheduled official visits during the Syrian delegation's trip.
It is worth noting that Latifa al-Sharaa's first appearance was on Sunday, during the performance of Umrah in the city of Mecca with her husband.
As for President Ahmad al-Sharaa, he arrived in the Turkish capital on Tuesday for the first visit of a Syrian president to Turkey in nearly 15 years.
