Heavy rains caused widespread flooding in the war-torn Gaza Strip, with photos circulating from Palestinian refugee camps showing barefoot children swamped in pools of water and mud.
According to United Nations statistics, about one million people in Gaza live without adequate shelter during the winter months. Recently, temperatures in Gaza city have dropped below 10°C at night, with strong winds and rain. Reports have also emerged of child fatalities due to the cold.
