According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, half of Aleppo in northern Syria is now under the control of Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham and allied factions. This follows a surprise offensive launched by these factions on regime-held areas in northern and northwestern Syria two days ago.
On Friday, armed groups, including Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham and Turkey-backed factions, entered Aleppo after shelling the city as part of a swift and intense attack on government forces. This offensive, the most violent in years, also allowed them to seize control of Saraqib in Idlib province, according to the Observatory.
