If Israel invades Lebanon, the Philippines plans to immediately evacuate 11,000 of its citizens who are based there, according to the country’s Department of Foreign Affairs.
“A ground invasion will lead to mandatory repatriation,” said Foreign Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega, adding that thousands would be evacuated by sea.
Manila had already urged its citizens to depart Lebanon, but most did not heed the call, according to Filipino diplomats cited by AFP news agency.
