Today, Saturday, the German Foreign Ministry stressed "the urgent need to take concrete measures in the Middle East, as Israel's war in the Gaza Strip has expanded to Lebanon."
The Foreign Ministry wrote on the “X” platform: “Once again, the entire region is holding its breath. We urgently need concrete measures in the Middle East to contain the situation and avoid further civilian casualties.”
It explained that Minister Annalena Baerbock was in contact with her Israeli and Lebanese counterparts and discussed the necessary next stages with them.
At the same time, the federal government expressed its “great concern” about the deteriorating situation in Lebanon, while stressing that war “is not inevitable,” according to a statement by government spokesman Stefan Hebstrait.
The spokesman added that "a diplomatic solution to the conflict should be possible."
