The Israeli army announced the closure of the airspace in northern regions for 24 hours due to tensions with Lebanon following the assassination of a senior Hezbollah military commander in a Beirut airstrike.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority stated: "Due to the security situation, the Israeli army has decided to close the airspace from Hadera towards the north for 24 hours," adding that "only authorized flights will be permitted."
Meanwhile, Israeli Army Radio announced "the decision to close the airspace from Hadera in the Haifa area northwards to the border with Lebanon starting in the morning." The army explained that this decision was made "to reduce the risk of the air defense system mistakenly identifying Israeli aircraft as hostile and intercepting them." However, it noted that "the closure applies only to civilian sports aviation and does not affect international flights."
Meanwhile, reports indicated intense warplane and drone activity along the border since the morning, followed by a series of violent airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon and western Bekaa by Israeli fighter jets.
