Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi says Israel bears “full responsibility” for escalating tensions in the Middle East.
“Israel is pushing the entire region into the abyss of a regional war by continuing its aggression on Gaza, violating international law and attacking the sovereignty of states,” Safadi, who held talks with several foreign ministers on regional tensions, was quoted as saying by Petra, Jordan’s news agency.
The foreign minister warned that without international action to curb Israel’s aggression, its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, would begin more war in the region.
Safadi had talks with the foreign ministers of Qatar, Egypt, the US, Russia, China, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Cyprus, Sweden and the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy to mobilise support for de-escalation.
