Secretary General Antonio Guterres believes the world is once again faced with the threat of real use of nuclear weapons, he said in a message on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the American atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Trend reports.
"Nuclear weapons and threats of their use are not just the stuff of history books. Such everyday rhetoric is once again making its presence felt in the context of international relations," Guterres noted, stressing that this is a real threat that the world is currently facing.
The UN Secretary General expressed confidence that the only way to finally eradicate the threat of nuclear weapons is to completely abandon them.
