Hamas leader to Agence France-Presse: The movement decided to stop negotiations

A senior Hamas leader told Agence France-Presse on Sunday that the movement decided to stop negotiations to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, denouncing the "lack of seriousness of the occupation" and "committing massacres against defenseless civilians."

He explained, "The head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, informed the mediators and some regional parties during a round of communications and telephone conversations of Hamas' decision to stop negotiations, due to the lack of seriousness of the occupation and the continued policy of procrastination and obstruction and the committing of massacres against unarmed civilians."
