Independence congratulatory cables
The Prime Minister received a series of congratulatory cables on the occasion of Lebanon's 81st Independence Day, most notably from the Supreme Pontiff, Pope Francis, which read: “The anniversary of Independence is an occasion for me to express my warm prayers for your people who are suffering from the repercussions of the war, especially those injured and bereaved by the loss of a loved one or the loss of their homes. May God heal the wounds of the injured, strengthen the paramedics and those who help them, and grant eternal rest to the deceased...I pray to God Almighty to inspire everyone to stop the killing machine in the region, and for the Lebanese, regardless of their sects, to remain united and supportive in times of calamity.”
King of Jordan
The Prime Minister also received a cable from King Abdullah II of Jordan, which indicated that this year's Independence Day occasion in the sisterly Lebanese Republic comes at a time when Lebanon is facing a massive Israeli war, which requires exerting all efforts to stop it.
"On this occasion, we affirm Jordan's support for Lebanon's sovereignty, security, and stability, and our full support for our Lebanese brothers in the face of the brutal Israeli aggression, and our continued work with you, our Arab brothers, and the international community to stop this aggression," the cable said.
The Jordanian Monarch hoped that Lebanon would witness in the coming period security, stability and prosperity.
King of Britain
The Prime Minister also received a congratulatory cable from Britain's King Charles, who hoped for "the continuation of strong relations between Lebanon and the United Kingdom, and to pursue the joint cooperation to achieve peace and address issues related to climate change as well.”
Prime Minister of Russia
Premier Mikati received a congratulatory cable from the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, which read: "Russia and Lebanon are traditionally linked by friendly ties, and I am sure that active cooperation through our governments will help develop trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation and achieve mutually beneficial projects in all areas."
The cable added, "The Russian side condemns the use of force by Israel against Lebanese cities and villages. We affirm our support for the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of the Lebanese Republic."
The Russian PM concluded by wishing his Lebanese counterpart and all the Lebanese "continued health, new successes, peace and prosperity."
Prime Minister of Armenia
Premier Mikati also received a congratulatory cable from the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, which hailed the historic relations between Armenia and Lebanon which are based on "ancient friendship" and "mutual cooperation and respect" between the two peoples, characterizing the current level of political relations between Armenia and Lebanon.
"We are deeply concerned about the deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East, especially in Lebanon, and consider the targeting of peaceful residents and civilian infrastructure unacceptable," the cable added.
"The Republic of Armenia supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and inviolability of Lebanon's borders, and contributes through Armenian participation in peacekeeping forces to strengthening Lebanon's security. In this difficult time for Lebanon, I wish you strength and courage in your efforts to overcome challenges and bring the country to a peaceful destination," the Armenian PM concluded.
