Lebanese Forces Party Chief, Samir Geagea, highlighted on Friday the need for a rescue step at this stage, deeming the “technocratic cabinet” as the salvation.
“We have to opt for a technocratic government, because it is the salvation. It does not mean a government of consultants, but a salvation cabinet of specialists,” he said, noting that “had the political governments succeeded, we would not have received this response from the street.”
Speaking after the “Strong Republic” Parliamentary Bloc meeting this evening, Geagea considered that the popular movement was characterized by its authenticity and transparency, adding that it surpassed all sects and borders unlike the previous movements in the past which always reflected a certain political line.
Geagea praised the Lebanese army and internal security forces for fulfilling their roles, despite all the pressure and demands for repression. "We tried to avoid what happened starting from the Baabda economic meeting, but unfortunately there was no outcome and the government fell under the weight of the movements," he said.
"The alternative solution is clear, and if the status quo persists, we are heading towards the unknown,” Geagea underlined.
